Easter in Liverpool: A Celebration of Faith Across the World
Easter is a time of renewal, reflection, and gratitude for the life, death, and resurrection of the Savior. This year, I found myself far from home, spending Easter in Liverpool, England, with my dear friend Tiffany and her husband’s family. While I missed celebrating with my family back in the States, this experience reminded me of a beautiful truth: no matter where we are in the world, we can celebrate the Savior, and God is always with us.
Easter in a New Place
Liverpool, with its rich history and vibrant culture, provided a unique backdrop for this special holiday. The cobblestone streets, the echo of church bells ringing out hymns, and the warm hospitality of Tiffany’s family created a new and cherished memory for me.
The traditions were different, yet the spirit of Easter was the same. We all gathered for a heartfelt meal, shared stories, and attended a worship service together. The hymns may have been sung with a slightly different accent, but their meaning was universal—praise and gratitude for the Savior who gave His life for us all.
Missing Family, Finding Joy
Of course, being far from home on a holiday like Easter wasn’t easy. I missed the familiar traditions of my family—the shared meals (especially chicken dressing), watching little ones hunt for brightly colored eggs, the laughter, and time spent reflecting on the meaning of this sacred day.
But sitting with Tiffany and her family, I realized how universal the love of God is. It bridges the distance between us and our loved ones, reminding us that we are never truly apart when our hearts are united in faith.
God Travels With Us
One of the most comforting aspects of Easter is the reminder that God is not bound by geography. His love and presence extend to every corner of the earth. Whether in a bustling city or a quiet countryside, whether surrounded by family or in the company of new friends, God is with us.
This Easter, I felt His presence in the warmth of Tiffany’s family, in the hymns sung in a beautiful Liverpool church, and in the simple joys of experiencing a new place.
