In a world where the power of words can shape our thoughts, beliefs, and emotions, authors have a unique ability to touch hearts and inspire change. As an author, I’ve taken this responsibility to heart by creating not only compelling stories but also a path toward hope and healing for those who need it the most. That’s why I’ve started this initiative. Throughout the months of September, October, and November 2023, Author Sarah K. Jensen LLC will donate half of the profits from the sales of my novel, “Passing Through Sorrow,” to these five non-profit organizations dedicated to helping domestic and sexual abuse victims.
For years, I’ve watched and loved the television series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. So many have suffered injustices and traumas that were finally being addressed in ways I felt many could relate to. When I found out Mariska Hargitay started the Joyful Heart Foundation, I knew they would be one of the first five organizations I wanted to support this go around of donations.

Futures Without Violence - a health and social justice non-profit with a simple mission: to heal those among us who are traumatized by violence today – and to create healthy families and communities free of violence tomorrow. https://www.futureswithoutviolence.org/
National Coalition Against Domestic Violence: Their mission is to lead, mobilize, and raise voices to support efforts that demand a change of conditions that lead to domestic violence. They are dedicated to supporting survivors, holding offenders accountable, and supporting advocates. https://ncadv.org/
Safe Horizon - the nation’s leading victim assistance organization, operating a network of programs across New York City communities and systems. We work with survivors of all forms of violence, including racism, to move from crisis to confidence. https://www.safehorizon.org/
Women Against Abuse - Their mission is to provide quality, compassionate, and nonjudgmental services that foster self-respect and independence in persons experiencing intimate partner violence and to lead the struggle to end domestic violence through advocacy and community education. https://www.womenagainstabuse.org/
My mission as a passionate advocate for those who have experienced the harrowing realities of domestic and sexual abuse extends beyond supporting organizations that provide safe havens for survivors. It is my profound commitment to share stories of love and going beyond just surviving. To share how those who've suffered can find joy and thrive. My journey has its roots in my own path of healing, a profound sense of empathy, and the realization that my words possess the power to transform the lives of fellow survivors and thrivers.
Like many advocates, my connection to the cause of abuse survivors is deeply personal. I understand that the scars, both physical and emotional, can linger long after the abuse has ended. This personal connection fuels my determination to utilize my writing to shed light on these experiences and offer a voice, a platform, and ultimately, healing.
It was a powerful epiphany that my words could make a difference in the lives of fellow warriors. Through storytelling, I can shine a light on the darkness they have endured, offering them a sense of recognition and empowerment. Words have the capacity to ignite change, inspire healing, and foster a sense of community among survivors.
I hope to contribute to a world where survivors of domestic and sexual abuse find solace, understanding, and a path toward renewal and hope.
